HOW A CITIZEN MAY COMMEND AN OFFICER

1.      If you wish to make a commendation about the actions of a University officer or about any aspect of the department’s operations, please:

Write your commendation out and mail it to (or deliver it to):

                              Chief of Police

                              Department of Public Safety

                              P.O. Box 141 MTSU

                              Murfreesboro , TN 37132

2.      Your commendation will be given to the officer and a copy will be placed in the officer’s file.

3.      Considerations will also be given (if applicable) to have the officer awarded at the annual awards banquet for such commendation.

HOW A CITIZEN MAY FILE A COMPLAINT

1.     If you wish to make a complaint about the actions of a University officer or about any aspect of the department’s operations, please:

Write your complaint out and mail it to (or deliver it to):

                                                Chief of Police

                                                Department of Public Safety

                                                P.O. Box 141 MTSU

                                                Murfreesboro , TN 37132

2.     Your complaint will then be investigated.  You may be contacted by the investigating officer and asked additional questions about your complaint.

3.     If it is going to take a long period of time to investigate your complaint, you will receive a letter telling you approximately when you may expect a reply.

4.     When your complaint has been investigated, the Chief will review the investigation and will write you a letter explaining what has been found out about the matter.
