RESPONSIBILITIES
The Student
Dispatcher is responsible for the efficient performance of
duties in the
MTSU
Communications
Center
. These duties include answering emergency and non-emergency
calls, dispatching officers to incidents occurring on-campus
(and some off campus), operating the radio systems, monitoring
the alarm systems, entering vital information into the computer
systems for records/reports, contacting other state/local
agencies for referral or assistance, and other duties required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates shall be
Middle
Tennessee
State
University
students, enrolled
in
at least six semester hours during each semester, with the
exception of
the
summer term
-
Must be a
U.S.
citizen
-
Must have valid driver’s license and original
Social Security card
-
Must not have been convicted of any criminal
violation
-
Not have been released or discharged under any
other than honorable discharge
from
an office of the armed forces of the
United States
.

Applicants must pass a background investigation,
misstatements of fact
on
application for employment may be grounds for immediate
dismissal
upon
discovery.
-
Applicants who are considered for employment will
have their fingerprints
taken
by MTSU Public Safety, have them reviewed and filed by the TBI
and FBI and must not have been convicted of any criminal
violations.

Each student dispatcher shall be issued a copy of
the department General Order
pertaining
to student dispatch. Receipt of the General Order shall
constitute
agreement
to comply with the regulations therein.
FILING PROCEDURE:
Any students
interested should stop by Public Safety and fill out an
application. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
