 PATROL DIVISION

MTSU Public Safety Patrol Officers are state-certified, full–time commissioned officers. To provide a safe campus for our community (students, staff, faculty, and visitors), the MTSU Public Safety Department has uniformed officers on patrol 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our officers provide this 24 hour coverage with three shifts. MTSU Police Officers patrol on campus, in surrounding areas, and all university owned properties. These officers have full powers of arrest.

MTSU Public Safety Patrol Officers respond to several types of calls to include: responding to crimes in progress, processing police reports, arrest and prosecute law violators through the court system, enforce traffic laws, controlling vehicle and pedestrian traffic as needed, responding to alarms, jump starting vehicles, and present crime prevention programs (just to name a few responsibilities).

Officers cover these areas thoroughly through several means. They perform their duties either in patrol cars, on specially equipped mountain bicycles or on foot. The Patrol Division is augmented by Bicycle Patrol Officers who can easily access hard to reach places on campus.
