School Resource Officer

Our School Resource Officer is present at Homer Pittard Campus School when school is in session. Officer Huskey has implemented the Discover program taught to the fifth grade. This program covers life skills valuable not only at the fifth grade level but for the student’s future in school and beyond. Discover also covers drug and alcohol abuse, bullying, and decision-making skills.

Officer Huskey also covers the United States Constitution with the sixth grade and holds mock court sessions with the students at this grade level.

The R.A.D. Kids program was started last year (2003) and covers home safety, school safety and general awareness as to what to do if a child is faced with the possibility of being abducted. This program also covers valuable life skills that help with the student’s participation at school and in their future.

Officer Huskey also meets with the Kindergarten levels and begins to work on character building, respect and safety in the home as well as at school.

The mission statement for the SRO program is to provide a safe campus environment for the students to learn, improve relationships between students and law enforcement, solve the issues of alcohol and drug use and juvenile violence and to work closely with staff, parents and students to develop programs that will benefit the school as a whole.
