Current Focus: Electrochemical Detection of Fenthion for Forensic Analysis

Additional Interests: Chemistry Education, Criminal Justice, Toxicology

Project Description

The goal of this project is to provide a non-destructive, cost efficient, time sensitive, and reliable method of fenthion detection that can be applied to forensic investigation, environmental protection, and public health efforts.

Why does this topic interest you?

This topic caught my eye because while fenthion does not pose a great risk to those in countries like America, it is harming many people in poor third world countries. I saw this project as an opportunity to use my love for science as a way to help those less fortunate than I am.

What are your professional aspirations?

I plan on getting my Master’s degree in Chemistry at MTSU before pursing a forensic science career with either the TBI or FBI.

Do you have any advice for future researchers?

My advice would be to talk to as many professors as possible about what research they do before choosing just one! There’s so many cool opportunities out there if you look for them.
