Middle Tennessee State University offers a thriving college campus environment where men and women pursue their educational goals. What was once a small college blossomed into one of the largest undergraduate universities in the State of Tennessee.

Within this institution is the MTSU Police Department, a full-service law enforcement agency with the functional divisions of patrol, investigations, and administration. Our Police Department responds to reports of crime, proactively investigates suspicious activity, identifies and arrests offenders, and assists all university departments and personnel in maintaining a safer campus environment. In addition, the Department provides documentation for incidents and events, including crime statistics, accident reports, and incident reports. Our department, with its ongoing mission to provide excellent, professional law enforcement services to the campus community, seeks to support a secure, safer environment for everyone who works, attends, or visits the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

The MTSU Police Department’s goal is to maintain an orderly environment that is conducive to a positive learning experience. To accomplish this task, our Police Department maintains a law enforcement presence on campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  We strive to be active, visible, and nice.  We divide our time between assisting individuals, groups, and departments and performing specific police functions on campus. Our officers constantly maintain professionalism and effectiveness in their interactions with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. We provide direction and resources for students; we support faculty efforts to instruct students; and we work with staff members who assist students. We encourage visitors to call on us for assistance as well.
