Tennessee Teach Back Initiative

The MTSU Tennessee Teach Back Initiative (TTBI) is a teacher preparation initiative developed by the College of Education that works with partnering school districts in Tennessee to help diverse and committed students as they work through their teacher education program. TTBI guarantees a teaching job or employment upon graduation in the partnering school district, in turn, helping to address the statewide and regional teacher shortage we are experiencing. It will promote the career of teaching as an opportunity to make a positive impact in our communities. The TTBI's efforts will positiviely add to the economic health and vitality of the state.
* Any students accepted to MTSU on Probation/Fresh Start or being readmitted to the university are not eligible for TTBI at this time.
* Acceptance into TTBI is dependent upon school district participation and availability.

Benefits for District Partners

Districts will partner with MTSU to mentor and prepare students for employment in their schools. Participating partners will be included in all aspects of the program, including recruitment, retention, and career opportunities for students. Sponsoring districts will provide funding for any portion of the student's bill that is not covered by scholarships or grants, giving districts the opportunity to partner with students from the very beginning of their educational career.
